The film follows Vadivelu's character Velan and Fahadh Faasil's character Daya as they set off on an eccentric and surprising road trip from Nagercoil to Pollachi. Though first humorous, the voyage eventually reveals deeper mythical links.
At the center of the story is the character Maareesan, who deceives Sita and leads to her kidnapping. He is modeled after the mythological character Mareesan, also known as the golden deer, from the Ramayana. With the "deer" character's true identity allegedly revealed before intermission, the movie deftly incorporates this mythological aspect into a contemporary story. Kovai Sarala, who brings her trademark flair to the screen, joins the cast as a police officer.
