The long-awaited edit function for WhatsApp has been launched and lets users change messages up to 15 minutes after they’ve been sent.
The feature has been in the works for some time, and was first spotted in beta testing it.
To use the edit feature, simply long-press on a message and select ‘Edit.’ You can then make any changes you need to the message before sending it again. The recipient will see that the message has been edited so they know that the message has been corrected.
We’re thrilled to give you more control over your discussions, whether it be to fix a tiny typo or provide more information. ‘All you have to do is long-press on a sent message and select ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after,’ the business stated in a blog post.
Editing messages will be a terrific method to fix typos and other mistakes, and it is a welcome addition to WhatsApp. It is also a helpful technique to modify a message or provide additional context for it.

Those using the platform will eventually gain access to the capability to edit but it is currently being rolled out gradually. For those who are unable to view the edit option at this moment, it is advised to be patient and wait for it to become available.
Revised messages will be indicated with the term “edited” to notify the receivers about the changes without exposing the edit history. Also, all your messages and their modifications are shielded by the end-to-end encryption, similar to private calls, media, and texts.
It’s worth noting that the feature to edit messages will be available for both individual and group chats. This feature offers a great way to enhance the accuracy and comprehensibility of your communications. Additionally, it can be useful in providing more context and rectifying errors in your messages.
